At Jonas Sugar Gliders, the health and well-being of our sugar gliders are among our highest priorities. Every sugar glider receives a veterinary health evaluation before being shipped to its new family.
We understand that welcoming a sugar glider into your home creates a meaningful emotional connection. While no breeder can guarantee that an animal will never develop a health condition after leaving their care, we are committed to providing responsible support and guidance throughout your sugar glider’s transition to your home.
Veterinary Examination Before Shipping
Before a sugar glider is shipped, it receives a thorough examination by a licensed veterinarian. A veterinary health report is prepared at the time of shipping.
If the veterinarian identifies a serious health concern that would make transportation inappropriate, the sugar glider will not be shipped until the concern has been appropriately addressed.
The veterinary health report documents the sugar glider’s condition at the time of examination and provides the new owner with important health information.
Your Required Veterinary Examination
To help protect your new sugar glider and establish a baseline for its health, we require that you arrange an examination with a licensed veterinarian experienced with exotic animals within 10 days of receiving your sugar glider.
Please provide Jonas Sugar Gliders with a copy of the veterinary examination or medical record within 10 business days of receiving your sugar glider.
This examination is an important part of responsible ownership and helps identify any health concerns as early as possible.
One-Year Health Guarantee
In the event that a sugar glider dies within one year of the purchase date, or develops a qualifying health disorder during that period that significantly and adversely affects its health, Jonas Sugar Gliders may provide a replacement sugar glider of equivalent value at no additional charge, subject to the conditions and exclusions of this guarantee.
We understand that a sugar glider cannot truly be replaced because of the emotional bond between an owner and their companion. Our intention is to provide support during an extremely difficult circumstance and, where appropriate, offer another companion of equivalent value.
Veterinary Documentation
For a health-guarantee claim involving illness or death, appropriate documentation from a licensed veterinarian is required.
In the event of death, the cause of death must be documented by a qualified veterinary professional. You must provide Jonas Sugar Gliders with a copy of the relevant veterinary report or medical record.
Conditions of the Guarantee
The health guarantee is dependent upon the owner providing appropriate care and veterinary attention.
The guarantee may not apply where a health problem results from or is associated with:
- Failure to provide appropriate veterinary care
- Failure to provide appropriate nutrition, hydration, housing, exercise, or daily care
- Accidental injury or trauma
- Neglect or improper handling
- Failure to follow veterinary recommendations
- Conditions arising after the sugar glider leaves our care that are unrelated to a pre-existing condition
- Other circumstances outside the breeder’s reasonable control
Regular veterinary care is an important part of maintaining your sugar glider’s health and is a condition of this health guarantee.
Spaying and Neutering
This health guarantee does not cover costs associated with spaying or neutering, including veterinary costs associated with undescended testicles or other reproductive procedures.
Our Commitment Continues After Adoption
Our relationship with you does not end when your sugar glider arrives home.
